In late May this spring, me and my friend Johannes Rydström drove from Växjö up to Karesuando in the northernmost Lapland, a trip with the aim after rare birds (and images), and of course the search for great nature experiences. Though it was perhaps a little too much time spent driving car, the trip was a real success and I was thrilled to see all the wilderness of old taiga forests and large expanses of birch forests and mires. In total we saw 204 bird species during the nine day long trip, one of the best was the surf scoter in Karesuando, also I was very glad to see my first white-backed woodpecker, hazel grouse and rustic bunting.
Some of the locations we stayed at were Stekenjokk/Klimpfjäll, Ammarnäs, Luspebryggan, Pulsujärvi and Naakajärvi. I have upload the most images into the album 'Northern Sweden' in the gallery. |
